 WHEF Grants for 2010-2011
 
 For the 2010-2011 School Year, the WHEF made two sizable donations to the District.  The first was earmarked for supporting the Chinese language and cultural program throughout the WHRSD grades K-12   and the other was to support the Community Service Learning Program at the Whitman Hanson Regional High School. 

 

WHEF Grants for  2009-2010: 

 

1. Hanson Middle School: Eric Brunelle and Maryrose Flynn

   To provide robotics instruction to seventh graders.  Students will construct and program varied

    Robotics devices for use as vehicles, and green and assistive technologies.  

 

2. Whitman Hanson Regional High School:  Amy Hill

    To support a presentation and a workshop focused on Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar for high school

     students.  The presentation and workshop will be conducted by six Shakespearean actors.

 

3. Whitman Middle School:  Patricia McGaffigan and Christine Thornton

    To purchase class sets of the book George’s Secret Key to the Universe.  Students will read the book

    and participate in activities to cover content that aligns with the Earth and Space Science Strand of

    the Massachusetts Science Frameworks. 

 

4. Whitman Hanson Regional High School:  Dan Moriarty, Mark Stephansky, and Bill Thrasher

     To fund a district-wide project to promote energy via a challenge contest to see which school can

     save the most money over a one-month period.  The purpose of this contest is to raise awareness of

     the importance of saving energy and to pilot a cost-saving energy-efficient program.  

 

5.  Conley Elementary School:  Darryl Payton

     To fund a set of Activotes for students.  Students using Activotes are engaged stakeholders in the

     learning process.  Activotes can help reluctant learners stay connected to the curriculum.

Whitman Hanson Education Foundation Grant Program
 
The Whitman Hanson Education Foundation, Inc. provides financial support for specific materials and programs that are designed to improve and enhance learning experiences in academics; activities and the arts; and to promote and improve education by offering innovatiove and diverse opportunities for learning.
 
The following are our grant guidelines:
To provide seed money for projects that are sustainable beyond the grant-funding period;
To provide money for projects that have the potential of being expanded into several or all of the district schools;
 To provide money for projects that add a significant aspect to the educational opportunities for our students; 
To provide money for projects that are compatible with current curriculum;
To provide money for projects that are cost-effective and cost-efficient.
