On November 15, at 7 PM in the Hanson Middle School Auditorium, the WHRSD, State Representative Geoff Diehl, and the Whitman-Hanson Education Foundation sponsored the second Education Innovation Forum.  Tony Wagner, co-director of the Change Leadership Group at the Harvard Graduate School of Education will lead a panel discussion about his recent book, The Global Achievement Gap: Why Even Our Best Schools Don't Teach the New Survival Skills Our Children Need--And What We Can Do About It.

This was the second of our Education Innovation Forums.  The first was the free screening of the movie The Race to Nowhere at the Whitman-Hanson Performing Art Center held on October 20th with the film's producer Vicki Abeles whose film tackled the tragic side of our often achievement-obsessed culture, with interviews that explore the hidden world of over-burdened schedules, student suicide, academic cheating, and young people who have checked out.

   SPELLING BEE

What Is All The Buzzzz?????

Mark your calendars for our 2nd Annual Spelling Bee to be held on March 29th 2012 at the Whitman- Hanson Regional High School.

Last year was a blast but this year will be even better!!!We encourage teams to go out and get sponsors, dress in costumes and recruit their own cheering section.

New this year!!!  We will be having a red carpet walk to showcase all of the fabulous costumes folks are wearing and you can buy a Mulligan when you send in your Bee Application. A Mulligan allows you to stay in the round if you misspell a word....consider it a little Bee insurance!!!! Each Mulligan is $50 and a team can purchase up to two Mulligans.  Mulligans cannot be transferred to other teams and cannot be used in the championship round. We will provide you with the Mulligans in your Bee Packet on the night of the Bee.
